What is contemplative resilience?
I am almost 40. I’ve heard it is around this age many of us begin to pay less attention to what the world says we should be like and subsequently finds our own voice, style, calling and ultimately our own way in the world. Raise your hand if you saying to yourself, “about *&$@# time!”
Finding my way has included many tears, heartbreak and betrayal as well as beautiful surprises and a lot of gratitude. On this journey leading into mid-life, I have discovered by a number of resources which have given me footing - things like therapy, spiritual direction, walking, art journaling, podcasts, books, poetry and so much more! Often these practices find there way into my day-to-day and have served to help regulate emotions, inspire creativity and deepen relationships. All of this is what I call Contemplative Resilience.
