What The Words Taught Me

Another #aprilwordproject is in the books and I am so thankful to have written a poem-a-day for 30 days! This experience has been encouraging, stretching, eye-opening and enriching for me. I am also filled with gratitude for your feedback - thank you for reading my poetry!

The purpose of the April Word project is commit to writing every day and observe how the words show up. I am humbled that the words actually do show up - and this month they were a lot more honest than I expected.

A few of my favorite poems from this month include:
Joyful Noise
Four
A Cynic on Palm Sunday
The Visitor
Ditch Water
How To Grow

Meet my friend Jess Janz, a fellow writer and poet who inspired me to join the #aprilwordproject. Jess and I have been friends for almost 15 years and she is a brilliant writer with an old soul with a subtle and tender way with words. We tried to film our recent chat but we had technical difficulties. Be sure to check out her work!

Are you a writer? I would love to hear more about your journey with words and share in some of the ups and downs that writing brings.
