Becoming In The Wilderness

So when COVID first hit I was honestly excited for the potential of wide scale global change, believing we were on the verge of a collective initiation. But I was foolishly unprepared for how long and how messy a reckoning like this can take.

I wonder if this experience is so hard because we are only “three days deep” into our initiation as Dr. Martin Shaw explains.

We are circling the path in the forest that invites us to wrestle with invisible life forces intent on growing up our souls. We are getting closer to our eventual name-changing experience, and we are doing all of that “becoming” in the midst of our daily lives and a global crisis. In the chaos and regularity of work, children, partners, illness, death, sleepless nights all leading us to a mirror - to our own oracle of deep truth telling.

So how do we rattle free? How do stop out running the truths that demand we notice the weight they carry? How do we begin to face our biggest fears that are showing up right on our doorstep?

I gently propose we enter the wilderness of the right now. Our new world is peeling back the curtain to reveal the wild beasts, storms, dangerous paths in dark woods, spells and enchantments that surround us. This same new world is also spilling over with magic, beauty, hidden keys and secret gardens. The shadow and the light residing within you are leading you to one place of discovery…

Priorities.

We are being invited to discover and lean into that short list of necessities and tear-stained needs that pour out of your soul. We are unearthing the purest version of ourselves, drenched in wonder and a good dose of mystery. We are being born into something totally unprofitable, and utterly priceless.

My prayer is we also find an inner grace to trust the work of suffering, to wait and navigate the necessary transformation that is unfolding.

May we find our new names.
